
According to agricultural organizations, but also such as farmers. firms engaging in transporting animals farming in Holland, EU and the state authorities insufficiently attend to protect their privacy and security, putting target activists.
Farmers on the target of activists?
In effect many farmers experience threats, harassment, hate and acts of vandalism or sabotage. Organizations industry LTO Nederland, Pig Farming (POV) and Vee&Logistics Netherlands are launching so an internet contact platform, where farmers should report this type of incidences.
As read on the website LTO Nederland, on the platform www.agro-intimidatie-meldpunt.nl farmers will also find advice, how to behave in the situation of heit, intimidation or concrete damage to the farm made by activists.
Data farms generally available
Surveys conducted by LTO among Dutch farmers, traders and transportation companies operating in the farming industry showed, that a significant part of them in how they experienced shock, and 83% of farming families feared such behavior. The blame for this state of affairs is blamed on the regulations, which allow in the EU to publish personal data, contacts, addresses and other sensitive information (including those concerning finances) on the owners of farms.
Notifications, reports and materials documenting various type of incidents, being undeservedly shared by farmers, are to be argument in the battle of agricultural organizations for change of law.
Farmer removed under the law
As argument by unionists, most farmer families have addresses of farms, therefore sharing data directly affects their privacy and feeling safety. Farmers rarely report to the police, and the police rarely take effective action.
European legislation on RODO protects citizens against disclosure of personal data. But farmers, traders and carriers of cattle do not have the right to privacy in the Holland. in the EU “out under the law”, because regulations protect the data of everyone, but not the
hosts.
