Research company NeoAnalytics has completed a marketing study of the Russian e-cigarette market.

It turned out that by the end of 2023, the volume of the Russian e-cigarette market amounted to about 170 billion rubles and grew by 18.7%. The growth of the indicator was facilitated, among other things, by legislation on "whitening" the market. Thus, on December 15, 2022, digital marking of electronic cigarettes and liquids was launched in Russia. Since March 1, 2023, participants in the wholesale and retail turnover of e-cigarettes began to register in the marking system. Since April 1, 2023, a ban on the wholesale turnover of unmarked products came into force and the transfer of information on retail sales of marked products to the Honest Sign system began. Since December 1, 2023, the circulation of unmarked vapes, liquids for them and disposable electronic cigarettes is prohibited.
Retrospective of the dynamics of the Russian market shows that in the last two years the sales volumes of the products under study have grown significantly. In general, the dynamics of the market are optimistic against the background of such macroeconomic indicators as retail turnover and cash income of Russians and significantly exceed these indicators. This is especially noticeable in the last three years.
In addition, another factor in the growth of the Russian e-cigarette market is distribution. For comparison, if in 2021 the share of e-cigarettes was only 7% of retail outlets, then in 2023 the figure increased to 35%.
The range of products in the assortment is also actively expanding. At the beginning of 2020, there were about 150 names of these products on the Russian market; currently, there are more than 5,000 names.
