Moonshine will not only heat houses, but will also be used to produce electricity?

Bimber nie tylko ogrzeje domy, ale posłuży do produkcji prądu?

MCeFC, or Molten Carbonate e-Fuel Cell, is a fuel cell whose prototype has already been created at the Warsaw University of Technology. Its purpose is to produce electricity and heat.

What is most interesting, however, is that the fuel for MCeFC can be, among others, alcohol, even the popular moonshine. The device, after commercialization of the invention, may cost from several to several dozen thousand zlotys. It will take up as much space as a washing machine.

From a technical, or rather process, point of view, it is possible for a household to achieve complete energy independence – says Dr. Eng. Olaf Dybiński from the Warsaw University of Technology, who developed the MCeFC prototype.

Producing your own electricity and heat free from carbon dioxide emissions thanks to fuel cells

Perhaps in a few years every owner of a house or even an apartment will be able to generate electricity and heat from pure moonshine. What is more important, from fuel free from thermal gas emissions. Or maybe I simplified the question too much?

The idea behind the fuel cell I'm working on is that it can use alcohols. These are more or less purified alcohols, such as methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol or anything that is the result of alcohol fermentation and is subject to steam reforming. Ultimately, it comes down to the fact that the MCeFC cell can also be filled with ordinary moonshine.

However, there remain problems related to excise duty on fuels and regulations regarding the production of moonshine and alcohol in general.
