Mixture explosion: flu, Mercosur and large import of pork intoPoland.

Mieszanka wybuchowa: pryszczyca, Mercosur i duży import wieprzowiny do Polski

Iwona Dyba: We have a whole fleet of dangerous infectious diseases occurring in EU, but and in Poland. Flu birds, cross disease poultry, blue tongue, African disease pigs. Now another disease has shaken the meat market. Not yet in Poland, but the risk is very large and continuously observed. How does the meat industry fare in this situation?

Jacek Strzelecki: Factually, the palette of diseases is impressive, obviously impressive in the custom and we can not be happy about this reason. The information about the focus of flu in Germany has caused its nature to shake earth. Yes really everywhere, because the appearance of this disease is very bad news. It does not apply only to cattle, but to all savage ungulates, and also to grain, which also, we as Poland are producing. In relationship with this, it affects such a wide range of animals, that first focus, that truly excludes the country from international trade. We are an important exporter of beef meat to other markets, in relation to us, this would be very bad awareness. It would really be a quake of the earth. The industry, in this breeders and veterinarians are doing, what they can, to not allow.

For what scenarios should be today sheared ? The path of disease expansion is very simple.

It is difficult today to predict market scenarios. You can make some models create, some patterns, that something will happen. Please remember, that we have not had to do for over 50 over years. With ASF, the flu birds we have tested some solutions. We have regionalization at the European Union level, and there are countries outside the EU, which recognize this regionalization. On the other hand, with pipeline it is difficult today to say, how this will look finally. No I think, that there is no one today who would want to predict. Same vision, that there is some status of population and that would be eliminated, without regarding everything, speaking about byle and pigs, this in all is very difficult to imagine. The losses would be gigantic, but not only for farmers, breeders, but also for branch entities, which for breeders meat processing work. We remember after all how many firms have suffered at ASF . This phenomenon would occur after the second time, only it would be stronger. You have to not do this .occurred.

Germany has a problem. Some point out, that this is an opportunity for Polish production, the Polish meat industry, to take third markets, there, where they are blocked. Is that really that simple?

No it is so simple. Maybe on paper this looks excellent, but please remember, that we have the blue tongue, if we talk about bydle, and about beef. In concerning this, there is already a block for some markets post-EU, because there is again about how in the European Union we have regionalization, that in the case of non-EU countries, unfortunately this regionalization we don’t know. In concerning this, there is no so possible to easily take the German market. In the case of pork, theoretically this is possible. And I think, that we are able to some lots here to find. The whole we would not be able to take. No because there is again ASF unfortunately we are very disadvantaged, there is a small area of the country, from which we could put this pork in the markets outside
