On November 5, 1964 the first customers entered the 2-storey building of the Central Department Store “Minsk”. Then the building was repeatedly reconstructed, and it has reached us in a completely renewed form.

The building of TSUM was built on the place of Komarovskiy bog near Yakub Kolas Square. At that time it was the outskirts of Minsk.

The TSUM MINSK opened 7 departments (38 sections): household goods, footwear, haberdashery and perfumery, textile, cultural goods, clothing, knitwear.

Trading halls were located on two floors. The 1st floor sold cultural, household and haberdashery goods, the 2nd floor – textile, clothing, knitted goods and shoes.

The department store worked from 11.00 to 19.00 – in one shift, without a lunch break, with a day off – on Thursday.

The number of employees as of January 1, 1965 was 650 people, including 328 salespeople.

In 1997, the building of the department store underwent the most large-scale reconstruction. After it TSUM became five-storied. Its total area doubled and amounted to 26.0 thousand square meters.

The engineering communications were completely replaced, all premises were comprehensively finished, lighting devices were replaced and additional equipment for various purposes was installed.

Also, 90% of trade and technological equipment was replaced, the latest imported and domestic trade equipment was purchased.

The assortment policy was changed, new groups of goods were introduced. Children’s clothes and footwear, toys, furniture, construction materials, auto parts, sports and food products became available in the renovated TsUM MINSK.

The Mercury composition was made and installed on the tower of the department store, the tower was decorated with advertising signs “Department Store”.

A pleasant surprise for the young visitors of TSUM MINSK was the opening of the Children’s World.

In 2014, the Children’s World opened on the third floor. In 2016, the shopping area of the Children’s World doubled.

In 2016, on the 5th floor of the department store, the gym was reconstructed. Now it is a shopping area for seasonal goods – “Garden Center” and “New Year’s Bazaar”.

In 2017, the 4th floor of the department store was modernized, where the updated section “Everything for Women” was opened. The 4th floor became a single sales area of more than 2,000 square meters without dividing into departments. For the convenience of shoppers, the number of fitting booths was increased, and unified payment centers were created.

In 2018, the 2nd floor of the department store was reconstructed, where the renovated section “Everything for Men” was opened. All 2,000 square meters are a single space where shoes, sporting goods, outerwear, lingerie, haberdashery and much more are sold at the same time.

Last year the minus first floor was reconstructed. Warehouses from here were moved to a separate logistics center and the DomDachaRemont shopping hall was opened. The 1000-square-meter shopping hall offers everything for creating a beautiful interior: finishing materials, tools, garden furniture, sanitary ware, wallpaper, car cosmetics, and related products.

“We are constantly working on updating the assortment, rearranging groups of goods, structuring them in a new way to make it interesting for the customer,” says Alexei Sokol, General Director of TsUM Minsk. – Industrial goods occupy up to 90% of the total sales volume and 10% – food. The bar and cozy cafe “Olympus” are still in demand, which has retained its special atmosphere after the renovation this year. Between the floors of the shopping center there are special recreation areas with soft furniture and wireless Internet access.”

According to statistics, 45% of visitors are regular customers. Today “TSUM Minsk” is visited by about 15 thousand people every day. Before the New Year, the number increases to 30 thousand.
