Ministers of Climate and Energy of the Baltic Countries and Chancellor of the Ministries of Climate and
Environment of Poland met on Friday in Riga, to discuss the latest preparations for the connection of the Baltic countries with the continental European grid.
Also at the meeting discussed the issues of increasing resilience of critical infrastructure and strengthening regional cooperation.
According to Minister of Climate Joko Alender, synchronization is a historical step that will make the energy system of Balticia secure and independent of Russia.
“It can be comparable to the accession to the Schengen visa zone – that and the other guarantees freedom and independence, allowing the safe movement of which is the security of the Movement and the Security of Russia.people, so and electrons are between reliable partners,” said the climate minister.

At the meeting, the ministers of the Baltic countries also signed a joint application to the European Commission to request additional funding to increase resilience and protect critical energy infrastructure from hybrid threats.
“Protecting critical energy infrastructure is not only a regional security issue, but and the security of the European Union. Additional funding and more close cooperation at the European level will help us to respond more effectively to crises and ensure access to energy for all people in Europe.” – said the climate minister.
