In 2024, Russians began to buy small suitcases of sizes S and M more often. Demand for products of this size increased by 20% and 25%, respectively. Many Russians prefer to travel light.
This is also supported by statistics on backpack sales: 30% of purchases of these accessories are made by people aged 35–44, who value convenience and try to reduce the load on their backs. The main buyers of backpacks remain schoolchildren and students, so the peak of sales in this category occurs at the end of summer. The most popular color of products in 2024 at the moment is brown.
Among the roomy bags, there is interest in purchasing shopper-type products. Demand for them in the spring of 2024 increased by 65% compared to the same period last year.
Among the large bags, Russians also prefer sports bags – in 2024, demand for them doubled. Judging by the trend of previous years, the products will be purchased more willingly in the fall and winter – Russians try to improve their health by going to fitness centers before the onset of cold weather. Interest in sports is mainly seen among the younger generation – 30% of sales of sports bags are to people under 24 years old.
A basic wardrobe item — women's bags — are mainly bought before the start of a new season in spring (32%) and autumn (25%). The popular bag model in spring 2024 was the "cross-body". The most popular color is black: based on data for the past few years, its sales peak in autumn. Buyers choose bags of this color year after year for their practicality, but in spring and summer they are more often attracted to lighter bag options: beige, gray, blue. But preferences for materials have changed. Unlike last year, when faux leather bags were more often bought, in 2024, genuine leather products came out on top.
It is noteworthy that in the first half of 2024, the average bill in the bag category was about 7,000 rubles. Most sales are for bags in the mid-price segment (5,000–8,000 rubles). The most expensive models are chosen by residents of Moscow, in second place are the northern regions: Arkhangelsk, Vologda and Murmansk regions.
