LabFarm enters international waters
Mastering meat production using cellular technology gives LabFarm owners great opportunities for development not only in the food industry. Due to the lack of legal regulations in the European Union, the company's management decided to expand the company's activities also in the pet food sector. The pet food market is developing very dynamically, and the support of pet owners in the use of cellular meat for food production is high. ProVeg's report found that 47% of cat owners and 48% of dog owners would probably or definitely feed their pets cell-based meat if presented with a simple description of the product and benefits.
LabFarm representatives have already concluded talks with a British partner who is interested in purchasing Polish cellular meat for the production of high-quality pet food.
A milestone for the meat industry and beyond
Although neither Poland nor the European Union has legal regulations yet allowing for the sale and serving of cellular meat dishes, the presentation of the prototype is a breakthrough moment for the entire meat industry and agriculture in Poland. There are examples around the world of successful cooperation between food producers and teams of scientists producing in cellular technology, e.g. the Respectfarm initiative, which aims to strengthen cooperation between scientists and farmers and find ways to use traditional agricultural products in cellular agriculture.
LabFarm Sp z o. o. is the first company in Poland that has undertaken the production of cellular meat. The president of the management board and founder is Jarosław Krzyżanowski, the creator of KPS Food. Since 2022, the Warsaw laboratory has been working on growing cells for the production of poultry meat. Ultimately, the company will also produce other types of meat.
The LabFarm scientific team permanently consists of Stanisław Łoboziak, molecular biologist and co-owner of LabFarm, Katarzyna Roszkowska, Laboratory Research Specialist, Aleksandra Jackowska, R&D Specialist and Wojciech Witarski, scientific consultant associated with the Institute of Animal Production of the National Research Institute, who serves as R&D manager at LabFarm. LabFarm invited Michał Fabiszewski, second place winner in the MasterChef Polska program, culinary advisor and head chef at Sodexo Polska, to cooperate in creating the styling. Fabiszewski is the author of two styling ideas for a meatball made of cellular meat.
