This move could save McDonald's
McDonald's from June 25 this year. offers a $5 meal. Consumers can choose from two sandwich options – a McDouble or McChicken, as well as small fries, four pieces of McNuggets and a small soda.
Customers of the fast food chain can also get free fries every Friday for the rest of the year with any order of $1 or more placed through the McDonald's app.
McDonald's CEO Joe Erlinger said the fast food chain will focus on affordability amid outrage over menu price increases.
“McDonald's five-year-wide price increases are closely linked to the higher costs of running a restaurant. These include increases in staff salaries (up ~40% from 2019) and the cost of food or paper, known as the "cost of goods" (up ~35% since 2019). McDonald's average price increases are within the range of price increases at other fast-food restaurants over the past five years. “Restaurant margins are largely the same today as they were in 2019.” – we read in the company's announcement.
McDonald's aims to add 900 new locations in the US by 2027. "We hope that they will be run by subsequent franchisees," it was reported.
