mBank and morele.net with a joint project. There are effects

mBank i morele.net ze wspólnym projektem. Są efekty
  • mOkazje shopping is a new solution. mBank decided to join forces with the Morele shopping platform to enable customers to shop directly in its mobile application.
  • The door to the world of e-commerce has been placed in the Shopping section. To enter it, you don't have to log in anywhere or go to other pages.
  • The service is currently available in its first “release.” Its rollout is divided into three phases. Each subsequent phase means more people who can use it, more products, and new functionalities.
  • Now 500,000 people have access to mOkazje shopping, who can choose from around 150 products that change every week.

Purchases in the mBank application

Ultimately, by the end of the year, the service will be available to all adult individual customers of the bank. Then, after logging into the application, they will move to a sales platform with an offer of over 1.5 million products and full functionality typical of large marketplaces. They will be able to, among other things, search for products by category, filter and sort them, use various types of delivery and payment methods for the order, including credit limits.

This will be a real revolution in banking. In addition to classic banking instructions, we will have an extensive Morele marketplace in the application – sums up Piotr Puchalski, Managing Director for Payments, E-commerce and Corporate Clients.

In mid-August, the second phase of the project was launched, in which the number of customers taking part in the pilot increased from 50,000 to 500,000, which significantly increased its reach. Customers are increasingly visiting the Shopping tab. Since the project started, they have entered it over 1.1 million times. And the daily number of visits is growing. In September, it is 30 percent higher than in August. Some of these visits ended with ordering a product and issuing a positive opinion. In August, the transaction NPS for mOkazja Zakupy was as high as 85. This means that the service has significantly more promoters than people who criticize it.

What do mBank customers buy?

From the current offer, customers most often choose products from the category – Supermarket (including food and cleaning products), then Small household appliances (kitchen equipment, dishes and various types of accessories from this category) and Toys and children, and then at a similar level of sales are products from the categories Sports and tourism and Computers. The sales hits are coffees and saturators.

We are working with Morele to expand the list of categories, in line with what our customers like. We want it to be tailored to their shopping habits, which we know from the analysis of their previous payment transactions – explains Bogna Antosiak, e-commerce department director at mBank.

In 2025, the bank will focus on further developing categories such as Supermarket, Health and Beauty, Home and Garden, Toys and Children, Electronics, and Sports and Tourism. Over the past year (data from June 2023 to June 2024), mBank customers spent a total of around PLN 37 billion on products from these categories. This figure does not include transactions in leading marketplaces ("multi-industry"), where they spent an additional PLN 10 billion – probably in similar product categories.

– As the data shows, our customers are people who often buy online and are happy to handle their daily matters remotely. It is similar with banking issues. On average, they log into our mobile application as many as 36 times a month (data for Q2 2024), which is more than once a day. We want to use their habits and propose a combination of both worlds – banking and e-shopping. Of course, if someone would like to handle only financial issues in our application, they can disable the service – says Bogna Antosiak.
