Police officers from Garwolin detained five suspects of setting fire to two hunting stands and destroying a third one. Losses resulting from these activities were estimated in total at over PLN 12,000. zlotys. Among the perpetrators was a minor whose case will be dealt with by a family court. The remaining suspects face up to 5 years in prison.
Hunters from the local hunting club reported to the police that the pulpits in Leokadia and Przyłęk had been set on fire. In two cases, the fire completely destroyed the structures. The total value of losses was estimated at PLN 11,000. zlotys. In the third case, the pulpit was destroyed. In addition, the perpetrators stole a camera trap installed on a tree by foresters. They were afraid that the camera might have recorded their actions.
"In each case, at the scene of the incident, investigators carried out a thorough inspection and secured traces that indicated that the fires may have been intentionally set on fire and damaged. From the very beginning, the police linked the fires, suspecting that the same people were behind them. The officers performed a number of activities, focusing, among other things, on observing the areas where the events occurred, interviewing victims and witnesses." – we read in the police report.
Operational activities of the Garwolin criminal investigation team led to the identification of the perpetrators. 5 people were arrested in the case. The collected evidence allowed charges to be brought against three of them. Their minor partner will be dealt with by the family court. The suspects pleaded guilty, but were unable to rationally explain their actions. The police also recovered the stolen camera trap.
