In the first half of 2024, marketplaces became the main sales channel for smartphones – they occupied 36% of the market in unit terms and 38% in monetary terms, displacing federal networks, writes RBC .

Since the beginning of the year, online platforms have supplanted federal networks (such as M.Video-Eldorado, DNS and others) in terms of leadership in smartphone sales. In particular, their share fell from 40 to 34% in the first half of the year. Currently, a fifth of smartphone sales (22%) also come from retail networks of mobile operators.
In monetary terms, first place was also taken by marketplaces with a share of almost 38% versus 24% at the end of 2023. The share of federal networks decreased from 45 to 36%, operators – from 19 to 17%.
The fact of a change in the leader in sales channels was confirmed by representatives of Marvel Distribution and Ozon. In total, in the first six months of 2024, Russians bought 14.2 million smartphones worth 344 billion rubles. This is 24% more than a year earlier in monetary terms, and 8% in quantitative terms. Marvel Distribution reported similar numbers.
