According to the My Warehouse service, in the first half of 2024, the turnover of the largest Russian online platforms – Wildberries, Ozon, Megamarket and Yandex Market – increased by 21% in annual terms. This is two times less than in the first half of 2023: then marketplace turnover increased by 42%.
Another indicator confirming the slowdown in the growth of marketplaces is online sales. In the first half of 2024, the Big Four's online marketplace grew by 55%, compared with 97% a year ago. The dynamics of growth in the median turnover of sellers also decreased – 39% this year versus 79% last year.
The Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT) predicts that by the end of 2024, the Russian e-commerce market will grow by 35–40%. Last year its growth was 28%. At the same time, AKIT recognizes the reduction in the growth dynamics of marketplaces, linking it with the increased savings of Russians. So, last year the average family spent 6,700 rubles per month on online platforms. “ This is too significant an amount to count on doubling this year ,” comments AKIT President Artem Sokolov .
In addition, an increasing share of consumers from leading marketplaces are moving to specialized online platforms – Lamoda, Lemana Pro, etc.
