Mango names new ecommerce boss as it enters 12 new markets

Mango has extended its online business to 12 new markets and promoted Marlies Hersbach as its new ecommerce executive director.

The Spanish fashion retailer said Hersbach will be responsible for developing, leading and executing the company’s online business strategy, reporting to Elena Carasso, online and customer director and member of the steering committee.

Hersbach joined Mango in 2020 and previously served as its international retail director for France, supervising the brand’s store strategy for the French market.

Hersbach’s role will also cover the 12 new territories Mango has launched its ecommerce channel in, including Angola, Belize, Brunei, Gabon, Gambia, Equatorial Guinea, Honduras, Laos, Mongolia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Togo.

Carasso said: “Mango’s entry into 12 new countries reinforces its international presence and brings our value proposition and passion for fashion to new markets. Since the creation of our online channel, our aim has always been to reach the whole world in order to be closer to our customers.

“Today, almost 25 years after our ecommerce launch, we are present in more than 120 markets worldwide, with an online selling channel available in 25 languages.”

Expanding its online operations, which represent 33% of total group revenue, form part of Mango’s strategic plan to surpass £3.36bn (€4bn) in sales by 2026.

Mango recorded its strongest-ever first half sales this year, which rose 6.3% to £1.3bn (€1.54bn) in the first six months.

At the start of the year, the retailer revealed plans to open more than 20 new stores in 2024 as it looks to bolster its presence in the UK.

It will grow its footprint in London and Scotland, as well as open in selected cities in Northern Ireland, central and southern England for the first times.
