This year, M.Video-Eldorado customers handed over about 2.4 million batteries and 24.7 thousand devices for recycling, which exceeded the figure for the same period in 2023 by almost 7.5%.
In January-June, the chain's customers handed over 667 tons of equipment (24.7 thousand devices) and 47 tons of batteries (2.4 million units) for environmentally friendly recycling. The composition of the handed over electronic waste is ferrous metals (38%), plastics (30%), copper (7%), glass (5%), aluminum (5%), printed circuit boards (3%), as well as other materials (12%), such as ceramics and rubber. The driver of the program was the expansion of services for the removal of obsolete and unnecessary large household appliances from customers' homes, the demand for which increased more than 2.5 times.
Residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan were the most active in handing over equipment. The most frequently handed over devices were washing machines, refrigerators, stoves, mobile phones, kettles, televisions, vacuum cleaners, car gadgets and computer equipment, as well as accessories.
The program for collecting obsolete or broken equipment for recycling has been implemented by the M.Video-Eldorado Group since 2019. Since 2024, the company has entered into direct contracts with a number of factories that recycle household appliances and electronics. All equipment received from customers is registered in the automated end-to-end IRM system (the company's own IT product) and sent to one of seven licensed factories.
