Ukrposhta will auction off parcels unclaimed for six months
Ukrposhta is introducing international practices with postal items that were not in demand for six months. The company will offer such parcels for sale as part of auctions on the Prozorro.Sale platform. A similar approach is common among international postal operators and logistics companies such as Amazon, USPS, FedEx, Royal Mail and others.
The starting price for each unclaimed parcel is 10 UAH. Parcels are combined into pallets containing up to 100 units and sold as one lot. Lots will be generated randomly, and all parcels will be sold unpacked with address information removed. Neither the company nor potential buyers will know what they contain when the auction results are announced. To eliminate the possibility of corruption in the formation of lots, company employees cannot participate in auctions.
Novus delivery service switches to Zakaz.ua
From June 18, the Novus.online delivery service will suspend operations and redirect all orders to its partner – Zakaz.ua. The Novus.online in-house delivery service was created during the Covid-19 pandemic, but now the company has decided to suspend this project to develop more important areas. “We have achieved considerable success and have something to be proud of. However, today’s realities have made their own adjustments – now it is important for us to focus on developing the network in order to continue to ensure the uninterrupted operation of stores and invest in critical areas,” the company said.
Zakaz.ua began cooperation with the MasterZoo pet market chain
On May 16, the Zakaz.ua delivery service began delivering goods from the network of the new retail partner MasterZoo. This is the first thematic delivery service partner in the entire history of the company, specializing in narrow-profile niche products. MasterZoo is the largest Ukrainian chain of professional pet supplies stores. For the most part, the service’s partners included large popular grocery chains of supermarkets and hypermarkets in Ukraine. Residents of the capital and suburbs of Kyiv can now take advantage of delivery from the pet market. The online storefront will consist of about 5,000 items of goods. “We started in the capital, where there is a new modern warehouse with a wide range. If there is demand, we will look for opportunities for joint cooperation in other cities,” comments Bogdan Navalnitsky, head of logistics and warehouses at MasterZoo.
Meest analytics: what Ukrainians order from Japan for the summer
Experts from the postal and logistics company Meest China said that Ukrainians ordered in May, on the eve of the summer season, from Japanese stores. Thus, the most popular group of goods ordered from Japan to Ukraine in May was cosmetics (10% of all orders). We are mainly talking about skin care cosmetics and sun protection. In second place are vitamins, minerals, and nutritional supplements (9% of orders). The third most popular category was equipment and components (sewing machines and motors for them, mini-computers, inhalers, air humidifiers, etc.) with a result of 6% of all orders. Fishing and sports goods account for 5% each. Almost 4% comes from clothing and footwear. Otherwise, there are fairly stable proportions of orders by category.
varus.ua launches convenient temporary slots for pickup
The Varus network is constantly introducing new technological solutions, in particular varus.ua is launching a new pickup function with 20-minute slots. Now customers can pick up their orders at a precise time, without having to wait for a courier or waste time collecting groceries at the supermarket themselves. After placing an order on varus.ua, you need to select “Pickup” and the appropriate interval. Then wait for a message in Viber or SMS and, in the selected store, click the “Receive order” button in the message and wait for a varus.ua employee with your order. Also, convenient tablets have appeared on the Varus network, where you can get all the necessary information and use the services of varus.ua.
Let us remind you that Varus recently abandoned cooperation with Zakaz.ua and plans to scale its own delivery service. As Emilia Michalskaya , operating director of e-commerce at Varus, said in an interview, our own delivery channel is needed to gradually reduce dependence on partners providing delivery services. It is planned to double investments in this area compared to last year. The company says consumers are getting used to online shopping. And, if previously the key players were Glovo, Uber Eats, Rocket, who actively developed the market, allowing small and quick orders to be made, now there is a noticeable change towards large purchases.
