Minister of Economics Latvia Viktors Valainis (Union of Greens and Farmers) announced in the morning programs of Latvian television and radio, that the manager of the state airBaltic should take
responsibility for the cancellation of 4670 flights scheduled for the upcoming summer season.
When asked whether he thinks he thinks that it is necessary to replace both the directorate and the board of directors, the minister responded, that operational management is in the competence of the department, the Latvian national broadcasting portal reported. He also recalled that it was expected to place the company’s shares on the exchange, but it never occurred.
“[Public offer of shares] is continually postponed. This situation [with canceled flights] didn’t occur by itself – itistheresultofthedecisionsofthemanagementandtheirbusiness plan.”I have serious doubts about whether this business plan will be implemented at all, given the development of the company,” Valainis said.
