The crisis does not give any relief to breweries. Will the NoLo trend save the beer industry?

The popularity of non-alcoholic drinks or those with low alcohol content is growing every year. "NoLo", or "No and Low Alcohol Beverages", is an increasingly visible trend among consumers who are more conscious about what they drink and eat. Does this approach have to limit choice? Not necessarily! You just need to be open to new experiences and test something unknown. It's easy to imagine a cocktail created with these ideas in mind, but what other possibilities are there? Many people are surprised to learn that there are also grape options in the same climate.

How are these types of grape drinks produced?

Non-alcoholic grape drinks, like traditional ones, are made in a process called vinification, i.e. during the fermentation of grape juice. Dealcoholization takes place only before bottling. It can be carried out in many ways, but the most common are the vacuum extraction method and the rotating cone method. The first one involves evaporating ethanol by heating it to 30°C. The second one – more expensive – uses centrifugal force and low temperature to separate the alcohol, thanks to which the wine does not change its taste and aroma to such a large extent. Both white (including sparkling) and red grape drinks from various grape varieties can be subjected to the dealcoholization process.

Test, try and discover new flavors

In summer, when temperatures rise and we spend more time outdoors, organizing picnics or evening barbecues, we increasingly prefer to reach for something light and refreshing. Therefore, in this case, it is worth choosing delicate, non-alcoholic items that will diversify our relaxation and enrich the taste of the dishes. Example? Semi-dry white Riesling, which is a perfect addition to many types of dishes. Fits, among others: for fresh seafood, pork and poultry, and its fruity bouquet, consisting of grapefruit, dried lemon, baked apple and wine yeast, perfectly combines with the delicacy of the prepared dishes.

Another option, suitable for vegans, is a grape drink made from the Muscat variety. Its distinct notes of lychee, peach, ripe pear and rose are characteristic of this variety. However, the delicate aftertaste of dried fruit and raisins is the result of technological processes that allowed the alcohol to be removed from the drink. Experts argue that it is one of the best-tasting non-alcoholic grape drinks available on the market. Perfect with sushi, seafood, fish or salads.

Alcohol-free zone in Lidl Polska stores

From mid-June, a special zone with non-alcoholic drinks will appear in Lidl Polska stationary stores, which will accompany the chain's customers throughout the summer. The offer will include white, red and sparkling grape drinks, as well as other alcoholic beverages. Additionally, throughout June, you can find non-alcoholic craft beers from Browar Trzech Kumpli on lidl shelves. The chain's permanent assortment also includes its own brand Argus 0% beer in the following flavors: Aloe vera, grapefruit and lemon-mint, as well as Perlenbacher wheat 0%.

Regardless of whether we are planning a meeting with friends or a quiet evening at home, the new zone with a wide range of non-alcoholic drinks will certainly meet the expectations of people who care about a healthy lifestyle.
