Leroy Merlin with a new service. They will help you obtain funding for thermal modernization
– In one day, thanks to our store teams, we collected over 80 tons of waste from customers. Recovered raw materials and minerals will be used in new products, and chemicals from electrical devices will not pollute the natural environment. Proper processing of electronic waste is an element of the circular economy, which is one of the priorities in ESG ambitions at Leroy Merlin Polska. – says Agata Caban, ESG Leroy Merlin specialist, coordinator of the campaign.
Waste electrical and electronic equipment and old batteries and accumulators were sent from customers to processing plants and effectively processed to recover valuable raw materials.
Electronic waste from collection goes through several stages of disposal. First, there is a classification according to size and type – batteries go to one place and large electronic equipment goes to another. The next stage is manual disassembly of the equipment – the equipment is dismantled into parts and elements that may be dangerous (e.g. batteries, capacitors) are separated. Elements containing hazardous substances, such as freon, phosphor or parts containing mercury, are removed – this stage is extremely important for the correct recycling process. The materials are then divided into plastic, metal and precious elements, such as gold, silver and platinum. Materials recovered from e-waste are processed for reuse in the production of new products, and materials that cannot be recycled are safely disposed of in accordance with waste law.
Leroy Merlin invited Remondis, which collected the collected waste, and Electro-System, which collects and processes it, to take part in the e-waste collection campaign.
