In Latvia and Lithuania, the average price for exchange-traded electricity last week was the same as in Estonia, and in Finland electricity cost several times cheaper – 1.67 cents per kilowatt-hour.
According to experts, high electricity prices are likely to persist until the fall due to the failure of the Estlink 2 submarine cable between Estonia and Finland. A drop in electricity prices will be observed during the daytime and during sunny hours. A significant gap in exchange prices for electricity between Finland and the Baltic countries has persisted since the beginning of May.
