Before
the end of this month vocational
schools must revise
the
specialties as requested
by the Ministry of
Education and Science (MES) to revise the specialties, which are not popular in the labor market but have too many graduates.
Although Estonia has a serious shortage of skilled workers, the vocational schools have
professions, for which graduates are ten times more than the labor market needs. The ministry analyzed the situation and relied on OSKA’s research in its decision.
“We used data about the number of those hired for occupational training and current statistics on output in the current nominal period of time and compared the received data with the projected needs in the workforce.” – explained the press-secretary of the ministry Elo Eesmäe. Also were considered the proposals of analysts on the placement of traininginkeyoccupations.
