Lagardère Travel Retail launches new formats at airports

Chopin Airport in Warsaw has been enriched by a new gastronomic point – Bistro Okienko. This is an original project of Lagardère Travel Retail in Poland, which draws inspiration from street culinary traditions, referring to old windows serving zapiekanka and sausage rolls. The restaurant combines memories of the past with modern solutions, both in terms of design and gastronomic offer. Simple, classic dishes, such as zapiekanka and hot dogs, appear in completely new editions, accompanied by interesting, top-quality additions, combining culinary sentiments with a modern approach to street food. The restaurant operates in the form of a compact shopping island. It is available to all passengers of the Non-Schengen zone.

– Bistro Okienko is a modern interpretation of traditional flavors. The concept brings back childhood memories and reintroduces tradition to contemporary realities. The restaurant perfectly meets the needs of travelers, combining authentic culinary experiences with convenience and quick access. We are certain that thanks to its unique character, high quality of the dishes offered and its strategic location, Bistro Okienko will quickly become an important point on the commercial map of Chopin Airport – emphasizes Dariusz Sinkiewicz, Managing Director for Commercial and Innovation at Lagardère Travel Retail in Poland.

Trade islands are an important element of development

Bistro Okienko is not the first island to appear at Warsaw Airport thanks to Lagardère Travel Retail. The investment in this modern retail concept is part of the company's broad development plan at the airport in the capital. In this form, two premises of the company's café brand – So Coffee – have already appeared in recent weeks. In the coming weeks, two more completely new gastronomic concepts will be presented. The islands will be located near various gete, thanks to which they will create convenient access for all passengers. The new formats will expand the portfolio of the retailer managing over 40 brands, including Costa Coffee, Aelia Duty Free Relay, Inmedio and 1Minute Smacznego!, present at airports, but also other communication points, shopping centers, hospitals and city streets.

– Retail islands are a modern form of retail space that is gaining popularity in places with high traffic, such as shopping malls, airports and train stations. This format enriches the traditional offer, bringing benefits both to customers, who gain quick service and convenient shopping, and to operators, who maximize the use of the facility's retail space. The compact size and simplicity of the island format allow for flexible adjustment of the offer to changing market needs and testing of new products and services. We are convinced that this format will ensure effective customer reach and we intend to fully use its potential – adds Sinkiewicz.
