Klarna's 27% revenue growth, as well as stable operating costs, led to the company's adjusted operating profit of almost USD 66 million, an improvement of over USD 107 million year-on-year. Klarna achieved these results thanks to cost reductions achieved, among others, after the introduction of AI solutions, which perform the work of approx. 700 people and significantly shorten the customer service time. The implementation of AI allowed the company to increase the average revenue per employee by as much as 73%, i.e. to approx. USD 685 thousand. Globally, Klarna currently handles 2.5 million transactions per day.
Klarna's global network is growing rapidly. In the last six months, millions of new consumers and 68,000 new merchants have joined us, and we are growing with their growth. This is evidenced by Klarna's 38% year-on-year revenue growth in the US. Our adjusted operating profit of almost USD 66 million is the result of our constant focus on sustainable, profitable growth, using artificial intelligence to reduce operating costs, and building a next-generation retail network, said Sebastian Siemiątkowski, CEO of Klarna.
Klarna’s impressive revenue growth is also driven by commercial partnerships with the largest e-commerce players. A total of around 575,000 partners resulted in GMV exceeding over $97 billion in the last 12 months. Q2 2024 was Klarna’s seventh consecutive profitable quarter with a 93 percent increase in gross profit in the US in the first half of this year. Klarna is now active in 26 markets, including 20 in Europe.
In Poland, the Klarna brand has been present since mid-2021 and in three years has managed to become one of the leaders in the deferred payments market. Thanks to the introduction of innovative services "Pay in 30 days" and "Pay in 3 installments", which provide buyers with greater control, security and flexibility when making purchases, the company has already gained 2.5 million active users on the Polish market.
Klarna's global results are a positive impulse and great news for us in Poland as well – it is clear that our ecosystem is working and has found recognition among consumers and merchants. The last three years have been a time of very dynamic development for Klarna in Poland. We have also started expanding in Central and Eastern Europe – we are already operating in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania. As Klarna, we are becoming a leader in the field of flexible payment methods and we plan further expansion in the CEE region – says Łukasz Dwulit, Head of CEE at Klarna.
