Jollyes lowers prices on 3,000 pet essentials as festive sales climb

Jollyes has reduced the prices on over 3,000 products as part of a multi-million pound investment into improving value for its customers.

The pet chain’s round of price cuts covers over two thirds of the 4,500 core items that it carries in a typical store.

It said the move is part of a multi-million pound value investment that will mean the lower price displayed at the shelf will be the price customers pay.

In some cases, the products will be cheaper than the price offered to the retailer’s Pet Club programme, which is due to relaunch later this year.

Jollyes coupled the news with unveiling plans to open five new shops during the first half of the year alongside a revamp of five existing locations.

The retailer will open in Pontefract in West Yorkshire, Chichester in West Sussex, Swansea, Chesterfield in Derbyshire, as well as relocate its Perth store.

It said the new stores will feature its raw food frozen ‘shop-in-shop’ and community pet clinics.

The retailer will also overhaul its shops in Selby in North Yorkshire, Waterlooville in Hampshire, Sheffield in South Yorkshire, Harlow in Essex and Keighley in West Yorkshire to include new community pet clinic rooms or extended raw frozen pet food sections.

Expansion plans follow a strong performance in the run up to Christmas from Jollyes, as sales rose 13% in the four weeks to 24 December.

Like-for-likes were up 6% and it recorded its biggest-ever trading day on 23 December.

Jollyes chief executive Joe Wykes said: “We understand how much joy a pet brings to families, but we also know the cost of that commitment is high, especially at a time when household budgets are under pressure from energy bills and mortgage payments.

“That’s why we’re simplifying our prices so customers won’t need to be a member to get the value that pet parents demand.

“Being relentless in lowering prices to deliver on our promise to be the best value pet store in town is at the heart of our DNA and the promise we make to our customers.

“We’re looking forward to bringing that combination of low prices, service and expertise to even more communities during 2025.”

Jollyes rival Pets at Home reported that its total sales had slipped 0.2% to £361.6m in the 12 weeks to 2 January, dragged down by a 2.4% fall in retail revenue.
