Jacek Strzelecki, president of Polskie Mięs: The Polish meat industry can be a global leader
Adam Tubilewicz, deputy editor-in-chief of Portal Spożywczy: At the end of June, you replaced Dr. Witold Choiński as president of “Polskie Mięs”. However, you have been associated with the union for years…
Jacek Strzelecki, president of the board of the Polish Meat Association: I have been directly associated with Polish Meat since 2017. From the beginning, I have dealt with legal issues related to meat production, including food safety, veterinary law and legislative processes related to this area. I have also cooperated in the implementation of meat promotion projects. I have also supported projects related to opening foreign markets to Polish meat, and over time I have delved deeper into this.
The Polish Meat Association has always been, is and I have no doubts that it will continue to be a leader. We are the largest organization in Poland in terms of market share of member companies and export impact. We bring together large and very large companies with different ownership structures, but most importantly, working with Polish raw materials and cooperating with Polish farmers. We once calculated that our member companies work with 100,000 farmers. The Association primarily represents processors and this will not change. I will certainly expand our scope of activity, although we will not go into areas completely foreign to us. I would like us to also start operating based on the synergy mechanism. There are areas in the meat industry that do not have enough implementation potential to bring economic value on their own, but the skillful use of synergy in specific projects can allow for maximizing the effect and developing weaker elements of the meat industry. I believe that the synergy element should be used to strengthen the entire industry. Undoubtedly, we should also start using new IT solutions for the development of the meat industry, such as AI.
