Modernization of the store in Ursynów
Lidl store at ul. Pilecki 103, one of the chain's five branches in Ursynów, is undergoing thorough modernization. The facility, built at the beginning of the previous decade, closed its doors to customers on June 4, 2024. The works will last until July 31, 2024, which means that the residents of the Imielin estate will have to look for alternative places to shop for almost two months.
The modernization will include not only the reconstruction of the building, but also the complete renovation of the interior. The store will be enlarged and equipped in accordance with the latest trends in the Lidl chain. The furniture, cash registers and layout of the retail space will change. New refrigerators, shelves and a new exhibition of the bread section will be introduced.
Reconstruction in the context of the deposit system
The introduction of a deposit system is a step towards increasing recycling and reducing plastic waste. Bottle lockers that accept plastic bottles and issue a discount coupon in return are already being tested in over 50 Lidl stores in Poland. The tests are aimed at optimizing operations related to the deposit system, including machine operation, space management, waste collection logistics and integration with IT systems.
The modernization in Ursynów, although it does not yet include the installation of bottle dispensers, prepares the facility for the future implementation of the deposit system. A similar reconstruction is taking place in Legionowo, where, despite the lack of a bottle dispenser, the store is being expanded. A room for receiving packaging covered by the deposit system is also being added there, and the work is being carried out so as not to disturb the comfort of everyday shopping.
Future perspectives
Representatives of the Lidl chain emphasize that the deposit system is a key element of the company's sustainable development strategy. The goal is not only to modernize the infrastructure, but also to promote pro-ecological attitudes among our customers, emphasizes the Lidl chain. The network announces that the experience gained during the tests will be used to optimize the system before its widespread implementation.
