The granting of the benefit depends on the degree of health loss. Several diseases that occur in people who have abused alcohol qualify for it. The most important of them are Othello syndrome, also known as alcohol insanity, and pancreatitis. People suffering from these conditions may receive an alcohol pension after obtaining a decision from a medical examiner or a medical commission if alcoholism prevents them from gainful employment, and they have had an appropriate period of paying ZUS contributions.
In order to be able to apply for an alcohol pension, it is necessary to meet the following conditions, i.e. a person applying for this benefit from ZUS must: be recognized as an employee incapable of work by a doctor, have completed the required contributory and non-contributory period, depending on age, in in which the incapacity for work arose and demonstrate that the incapacity for work arose during the periods specified in the Act, e.g. during insurance, employment, and receipt of unemployment benefits.

To sum up, alcohol pension, granted due to inability to work, is a form of support that can help stabilize the lives of people affected by alcoholism. However, this is a benefit that requires detailed documentation of your health condition and the fulfillment of certain legal conditions.
PLN 1,780.96 gross – such money can be received from ZUS by a person who has lost the ability to work due to alcoholism or PLN 1,335.72 in the case of partial incapacity to work.
– In this context, it is incredible that the lowest agricultural pension after at least 25 years of hard work on the farm and paying agricultural pension insurance contributions during this time from March 1, 2024 is the same, i.e. PLN 1,780.96 zloty! The agricultural community is very outraged by this fact. We bring this to the attention of decision-makers. If hard work is not appreciated in Poland, soon there will be no one to work. This is highly demoralizing for society – warns the Wielkopolska Chamber of Agriculture.
