Architectural barriers in older livestock buildings are the norm. After all, several dozen years ago, no one thought about using feed wagons, mechanically removing manure, or using straw rolled into round bales. The dimensions of the communication routes were adapted to the specificity of the production at that time. Times have changed and buildings remain the same, so for many farmers architectural barriers involve much more work.
Tomasz Krawczyk also encountered such a problem in his facility. A farmer from the Lwówek district (Lower Silesian Voivodeship) has technological corridors in his facility that are only one meter wide, therefore the use of 1.20 m long bales involved a large labor input. However, an ingenious farmer managed to solve this problem.
His method turned out to be simple but effective. After purchasing a round baler, the farmer came up with the idea of installing three straw-chopping knives in its central part. As a consequence, the center of the bale collected in this way has a much more delicate structure than its side parts. Such a roll can be easily torn in half using a charger.
