Innova Capital invests in educational platforms

Innova Capital inwestuje w platformy edukacyjne
  • Innova Capital acquires majority stake in Tutore group.
  • The transaction also saw the acquisition of two companies – International Language Institute (ILI) and ESL Brains. The investments were made as part of Innova’s recently finalized seventh fund.

Tutore is currently the leader of the Polish private educational services sector, which it provides in the omnichannel model. The company has achieved a unique position on the market thanks to strategic acquisitions made in 2022, which enabled the creation of a complementary business, serving both individual clients and enterprises. Since then, the group has operated under three brands – eTutor, a leading application for learning foreign languages, ProfiLingua – the largest network of online and offline language schools in Poland, and Tutore, offering classes and tutoring in various subjects and areas of interest.

Tutore has 355k active students and over 2.3k B2B clients

In total – in cooperation with over 2 thousand teachers – it has served a wide user base, including 355 thousand active students and over 2.3 thousand B2B clients in over 60 courses. Its offer includes not only diverse language classes for children and adults, but also engaging educational programs aimed at developing students’ critical thinking skills, creativity, innovation and cooperation through an interactive and practical approach to learning.

Innova Capital, working closely with the company's founders, as well as the CirCap fund, which is also an investor in the group, will strive to further strategically develop the Tutore business both on the Polish market and abroad. To this end, Innova plans to use, among other things, its know-how and experience in scaling service businesses, as well as support Tutore in strengthening the synergy between its brands, including the appropriate integration of newly acquired companies. The first of them, the International Language Institute, focuses on providing modern solutions and online language courses for companies. ESL Brains, in turn, offers English teachers and tutors from around the world an online platform, within which, in the form of a subscription, they gain access to substantive, regularly prepared materials, which they can later use in their work with students.

"Tutore already has a unique position on the Polish private education market. By joining forces with its founders and the CirCap fund, we want to seek further growth opportunities for it, including in other European markets. Thanks to bold actions and previous acquisitions, Tutore has managed to develop several strong brands under its wing, which provide high-quality, complementary online and stationary solutions for B2C and B2B education. We see huge potential for further expansion of the group, both organically and through further acquisitions. We also intend to support the group in investing in technology to maintain its advantage in the dynamically changing education market," comments Andrzej Pietrzak, Partner at Innova Capital, supervising the transaction on behalf of the fund.

"The investment of a well-known and experienced private equity fund, such as Innova Capital, is a confirmation of the effectiveness of our previous activities on the Polish market, as well as a chance to implement further ambitious projects and further expansion. With an increasingly broad portfolio of strong educational brands, we are able to effectively deliver services through multiple channels and create synergies between them in the form of hybrid courses (so-called blended learning) or offer a combination of digital solutions with traditional forms of education," emphasizes Marcin Grzelak, President of Tutore Poland.
