Consumer prices in the eurozone in December 2024 year increased by 2,4% in annual terms – this was reported by the statistical service of the Eurostat European Union Eurostat. Inflation accelerated by comparing with November’s 2.2 percent. Compared with November prices increased by
0.4 percent.
In Estonia the annual growth of prices accelerated by 0.3 percentage points compared with the previous month and was 4.1%, reported BNS the press service Eurostat. A year earlier this indicator was 4.3 percent. In the EU this indicator was 3.4%, and in the Eurozone was 2.9%.
Consumer prices without considering the costs of energy, food food and alcohol, increased by 2.7 percent in December on a year-over-year basis after the same increase month earlier.
Prices for foods, alcohol and tobacco increased by 2.6 percent after increasing by 2.7 percent in November. Prices for energy increased by 0.1% after decreasing by 2.0% month earlier. Services became more expensive by 4.0%.
In 27 EU countries the price increase in annualized December was 2.7% after increasing by 2.5% months earlier. AboutThe previous month prices in the EU increased by 0.3%.
The lowest inflation was reported in Ireland (1.0%), Italy (1.4%), Luxembourg, Finland and Sweden (1.6%). The highest increase in consumer prices was in Romania (5.5%), Hungary (4.8%) and Croatia (4.5%).
In Germany German annual inflation accelerated to 2.8% from 2.4% in November, in France – to 1.8% from 1.7%, in Spain – to 2.8% after 2.4% the month earlier. In Italy the rise in prices slowed to 1.4% from 1.5% in November.
