According to updated data from Eurostat, annual inflation in the eurozone in July rose by 0.1 percentage point to 2.6% compared to June, and in the European Union (EU) as a whole by 0.2 percentage point to 2.8%.
In Estonia, annual inflation accelerated by 0.7 percentage points compared to the previous month and amounted to 3.5 percent. A year earlier, in July last year, inflation in Estonia was 6.2 percent, in the EU – 6.1 percent, in the eurozone – 5.3 percent.
Among EU member states for which Eurostat has data, inflation last month was slowest in Finland – 0.5 percent, Latvia – 0.8 percent and Denmark – 1 percent. Inflation rose fastest in Romania – 5.8 percent, Belgium – 5.4 percent and Hungary – 4.1 percent.
Compared with June, annual inflation accelerated in 14 Member States, slowed in nine and remained unchanged in four.
Services contributed the most to the eurozone inflation rise last month, with 1.82 percentage points, followed by food, alcohol and tobacco prices, with 0.45 points, and industrial goods, with 0.19 points. Energy prices rose by 0.12 points.
