The industrial producer price index, which characterises the change in the prices of industrial products manufactured in Estonia for both the domestic market and export, increased by 0.4% in July 2024 compared to June and by 0.8% compared to July last year. According to Eveli Šokman, Head of the Producer Price Statistics Group at Statistics Estonia, compared to July 2023, the index was most affected by price increases in the production of electronic equipment, machinery and equipment repair services, and fuel oil production. "The opposite effect was exerted by a decrease in prices in the production of food products, chemical products, and electrical equipment. In the manufacturing industry, prices increased by 0.9%, while the decrease in prices in the production of food products was 3.4%," Šokman explained. Compared to June this year, the index was most affected in July by price increases in the production of electricity and heat energy, construction materials, and industrial machinery and equipment. The decline in prices in the production of metal and wood products, as well as in woodworking, also had an impact. The price index for export products increased by 0.7% in July compared to June. The prices of electricity, construction materials and electronic equipment increased the most. At the same time, the prices of agricultural products, paper and paper products, and clothing decreased the most. Compared to July 2023, the price index for export products increased by 1.4%. The price index for import products increased by 0.4% in July compared to June. The prices of electricity, petroleum products and metal products increased the most. At the same time, the prices of agricultural products, clothing and metal decreased the most. Compared to July 2023, the price index for import products increased by 2.2%.
