The case went to court with an indictment containing 13 charges. In total, the fraudster defrauded almost PLN 100,000 – informs the Mazovian Police.
"The 46-year-old posted information on advertising portals about the possibility of importing a vehicle. The condition was to pay an advance on the future purchase. The ads, accompanied by photos, were very credible. The man offered cars as well as construction and agricultural machinery. When the transaction was to be finalized, the seller disappeared and it was impossible to establish any contact with him," we read in the message.
The suspect had no permanent place of residence and was hiding from law enforcement. Garwolin police officers tracked him down in June this year in Ząbki near Warsaw. The 46-year-old was then charged with fraud for the first time, and the court imposed a three-month arrest on him. During the investigation, it was revealed that the fraudster operated throughout the country. Officers identified other victims, including from Legnica, Lublin, Łomianki, Ząbki and Rzeszów. In total, the fraudster defrauded almost PLN 100,000.
As a result of several months of work by police officers and prosecutors, an indictment was filed against the 46-year-old with a total of 13 charges against him in the District Court in Garwolin. The suspect has already served prison sentences for similar crimes. He will therefore be held accountable in court as a recidivist. Fraud as defined in Article 286 of the Penal Code is punishable by imprisonment for up to 8 years. In the case of acting under conditions of recidivism, the court may impose a sentence of up to 12 years.
