India is the second to large producer of wheat and rice in the world. As reports Financial Express and World Grain, the Indian government is implementing a very ambitious plan for capacity to store grain.
With in 3 years to come the country has through the construction of new storage storage capacities of wheat – from the current 2,8 million ton to 9 million ton. In in 5 years the storage capacity of India has however to reach 70 million ton of grain.
The declared government goal is to provide storage for 100% of crops harvested in India.
According to official data the country now has the capacity to store only 47%
of total cereal production.

Record prices of wheat in India
according to the law on national food security , India’s Food Corporation (FCI) stores from 40 to 50 million tons of rice and wheat. FCI has already completed the construction of elevators for 1 and 2 million ton, a under the project to develop spichlers plans to build elevators to store wheat in 196 locations on the wide country.
India targets for implementation of the plan for some 15 billion dollars. Implementation of government program – as politicians announced – will reduce the
quantity of inadequately stored grain, will reduce the need to transport over long distances, lower the costs of transport and
improve efficiency of the supply chain. Modern spichlers will reduce the quantity of food waste and waste of food.
