M&S took home the Best Retailer over £500m at the Retail Gazette Awards: The Game Changers, in partnership with Yext as the judges heralded that the much-loved chain had “returned to its former glories”.
The judges added that M&S, which posted a 58% jump in profits in its last financial year, was “firing on all cylinders. “With positive momentum across all parts of the business, the future looks ever brighter,” they said.
Fortnum & Mason was crowned Best Retailer under £500m award at the ceremony in central London, hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner Ginger Johnson.
The judging panel said: “This heritage brand has been reinvented for the 21st century. The brand experience is world-class in store and it is innovating to bring this into the digital world. It has achieved great financial results and its customer loyalty levels are highly impressive.”
Meanwhile, Lush took home both the New Store Game Changer and Sustainability Game Changer awards.
Retailers from the biggest businesses in the industry, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Currys, Frasers Group and Boots, gathered for a fun awards ceremony in central London where other winners included Aldi, The Co-op and Go Outdoors.
