In Estonia housing prices have increased by 230%. This is the highest indicator in the EU

Eurostat reported, that when comparing the third quarter 2024 year with 2010 year the same indicator also in Hungary. In the third place in the increase in price for housing in the EU – Lithuania (+181%), followed by Latvia (+154%).Estonia is in first place and in price for rent – the country recorded the most
significant increase, by +216%. In the third quarter of 2024 year housing prices in the EU increased by 3.8%, and rent payments increased by 3.2% compared with
the third quarter of 2023 year. Compared with the second quarter of 2024 year price for housing increased by
1.4%, and rent pay by 0.9%. This information is taken from data on price
for housing and rent payments published by Eurostat. Prices for housing and rent payments in the EU demonstrated similar behavior in the period from 2010 to the second quarter of 2011 year, but from those por dynamics were different. While while rent payments have increased steadily, housing prices have followed a more varying model, combining periods of decline with a faster rise. In the period from 2010 to the third quarter of 2024
year prices for housing in the EU increased by 54.1%, and rent payments by 26%. As for national data, when comparing the third quarter of 2024 year with 2010 year housing prices increased more, than the rent payment in 20 EU countries for which data are available. Over the same same period price for housing increased more than triple in Hungary and Estonia (both+230%) and more than twice in Lithuania (+181%), Latvia (+154%), Czech Republic (+135%), Austria (+114%), Portugal (+113%), Bulgaria (+110%) and Luxembourg (+103%). Italy was
the only country where housing prices decreased over this period (-4%). For the same period (-4%).period rental payment increased in 26 countries of the EU, while the most increases were recorded in Estonia (+216%), Lithuania
(+183%), Ireland (+109%) and Hungary (+108%). Greece was the only country where rents decreased (-16%). In the second quarter of 2024 year Estonia was also in the leaders in the indicators of growth
as housing price increased then more than three fold (+232%). To this and the growth of prices is not slowed. According to Department of Statistics, the Housing Price Index in the second quarter of 2024 year increased compared with
thesameperiodoflastyearby6,7%andcomparedwiththefirstquarterofthisyearby2.8%.
