In 2024 year Latvia imported from Russia 214 800 tonnes of grain, which is 49.3% fewer, than in 2023 year (423 730 tonnes), the Service of State Revenue (VID) told LETA agency.The value of grain imported from Russia in last year was 35.59 million euros, which is 60% down from 2023
year. In 2024 year from Russia was imported 191 191 828 tons of corn, 9717 tons of rye, 8744 tonnes of wheat and mixtures of wheat and rye, 4400
tonnes of barley and 111 tonnes of triticale. Compared with 2023 year imports of rye decreased by 81.7%, corn – by 34,9%, triticale – by 88.8%, wheat and mixtures of wheat and rye – by 88.3%. Barley imports in 2024 year increased significantly, as in 2023
year barley was imported in very small quantities. As explained in VID, from 8 March 2024 year, when it was forbidden to import to Latvia fruits, vegetables, grain and feed products from Russia and Belarus for processing and final consumption, The statistics include data about grain imported in compliance with the customs procedure for release into free circulation under code 42. This means that the goods are released into free circulation with a tax on the added
value of 0% and are deliverable to a receiver in an other state of the European Union. According to Data SGD, transit through Latvia from Russia in 2024 year was transported 1,877 million tonnes of grain, which is 16.3% fewer than 2023 year (2,243 million tonnes), in that includes 1,441 million tonnes of wheat and mixtures of wheat and rye,
199 249 tonnes of corn, 220 218 ton of barley, 8708 ton of rye, 4288 ton of oats, 2615 ton of triticale and 726 ton of rice. Compared with 2023 year transit of wheat and mixtures of wheat and rye in 2024In the year decreased by 17.6%, rice – by 31.4%,
