This is a technology that can automatically limit the speed of a car if the driver exceeds the speed limit. ISA (Intelligent Speed Assistance) technology uses GPS satellite navigation and can detect road signs using cameras.

Before ISA reduces the vehicle's speed, the system alerts the driver to reduce speed. To do this, a warning appears on the driver's screen and the steering wheel begins to vibrate slightly. In addition, a short beep sounds.

If the driver ignores the warnings, the system itself reduces engine power without applying the brakes.

The amendment was adopted by the European Parliament in 2019 to improve road safety. The change does not affect vehicles that are already in use, so there is no need to install the ISA system on them.

Although the change currently only applies to the European Union, it will also affect the UK, Norway, Switzerland and other European countries. True, unlike the EU countries, the use of the system is not mandatory, so ISA can be disabled there.
