IKEA continues to expand and will open the first small IKEA store in the Baltics. The new concept service point will be the first of its kind in the region and will open in Pärnu in the summer of 2025.

“Inspired by our vision to make everyday life better for many, we continue to expand in the Baltic market by transforming existing customer service points, opening new ones, and introducing new formats – in this case, a small store – to better meet the needs of our customers and make their dreams come true,” said Inga Filipova, Head of Retail at IKEA in the Baltics.

She explained that the smaller stores provide IKEA accessibility in places where a full-size store is not possible. They provide an important experience closer to where customers live, work and socialize, are tailored to local tastes and serve as an additional opportunity to showcase IKEA's wide range.

"IKEA's small stores are easily accessible and bring the IKEA experience closer to people. They are like a window into the full IKEA offering. In the Pärnu store, many products will be on display in a showroom designed to inspire customers to decorate their homes and allow them to see and try out different interior design solutions.

"There will be 500 different specially selected products available for immediate purchase, and the entire IKEA assortment will be available in the online store. For an even better shopping experience, there will also be a snack area where you can try and buy Swedish dishes to go, such as the famous Swedish meatballs. Hot and cold drinks are also available," says Filipova. All IKEA services available at the market will also be available in Pärnu.

Adaptation to local needs

The first small IKEA store in the Baltics will be approximately 1,500 m2 in size and will be located in finished premises together with other tenants. Most of the space will be allocated to a commercial area, an exhibition hall with inspiring home furnishing examples, such as room plans with realistic interior solutions that can be seen and tried, and a sales area with 500 different IKEA products for immediate purchase, such as home textiles, tableware, home organization accessories, interior items, etc.

There will also be a customer service area to serve small shoppers and online shoppers, where they can pick up orders, exchange or return items. The outdoor area will feature seasonal items such as garden and balcony furniture.

IKEA in Pärnu will be the third customer service point in Estonia and the ninth in the Baltics. IKEA has been expanding dynamically in the Baltics in recent years, and the number of customer service points has almost doubled in the last two years: in 2022, an IKEA store was opened in Tallinn, in 2023 in Šiauliai, in 2024 in Liepaja, and in the same year, the IKEA product planning and ordering point in Tartu was expanded.
