The German discount supermarket chain Lidl published a study in which it compared the prices of a number of furniture items under its own brands with the prices of some products from IKEA, writes Retail Detail .

Under the slogan “Unschlagbar im Preis” (“Unbeatable Price”), Lidl published a price comparison between private label products and similar products from the Swedish company IKEA. The chain compared the prices of a hat rack, a clothes rack and a shoe rack: in each of these cases, the Lidl product was compared with a similar IKEA product and was significantly superior in price.
The response from IKEA came immediately: the Swedish furniture giant reduced prices on all products included in the “catalog” from Lidl. As a result, the prices for the listed items turned out to be significantly lower than those of the German company, and information about this appeared on the official IKEA website under the heading “A Lidl bit günstiger” (“A little cheaper”).
A few weeks ago, Lidl also tried to compare some of its products with Action's products. But at that moment the company compared not prices, but the quality of goods.
