Record soybean production on higher US forecast
Amid ample availability, consumption is expected to peak as strong demand for soy products from feed, food and biofuel sectors will boost processing, and reserves are also expected to increase. Larger shipments to Asia are expected. Both the US and Brazil should export more.
Global production in 2024/25 is expected to be 27 million tonnes higher at 419 million tonnes (+7%), driven by an improved US harvest forecast, while consumption and closing stocks are also expected to increase by 14 million tonnes compared to last year. Trade is forecast to be broadly stable at 177 million tonnes (+2%).
