Let us remind you: "PolKa" received on June 10 this year. permission from the Ministry of Climate and Environment to operate a deposit system. The authorization allows for the creation of a system for placing drinks in packaging covered by a deposit on the market and returning this deposit to the end user.

– All processes are carried out according to the work schedule. We focus, among others: on opening registration on the IT platform for all entities obliged to participate in the deposit system. We will be ready with it during the holidays, so there will be time for tests. The pace of work is dizzying, but our team consists of experts who have already implemented and managed deposit systems in other countries, and we also know the local market well. We know what to do to meet tight deadlines; we use ready-made universal logistics, which we do not create from scratch, but only integrate and develop – said Magdalena Markiewicz, president of the management board of "PolKa" Operator Systemu Kaukcji Not For Profit SA.

"PolKa" Not For Profit SA Deposit System Operator is a representative entity (refund system operator) founded by the Odzyskaj Środowisko Foundation, a member of the MB Group, which has been operating in the recycling industry in Poland and abroad for 15 years. The company's management board includes: Magdalena Markiewicz (president) and Marcel Rakowski (vice-president), while the supervisory board includes: Vice-President of the Management Board of InPost SA Sebastian Anioł, President of the Management Board of the Odzyskaj Środowisko Foundation Krzysztof Kieszkowski and Michał Ludwikowski.

Deposit system from January 1, 2025

The deposit system in Poland will cover PET bottles up to 3 liters and glass bottles up to 1.5 liters, as well as metal cans up to 1 liter. A deposit of 50 cents will be added to the price of these products, which the consumer will get back when returning the packaging.

The new regulations will oblige producers, importers and brand owners to collect them and achieve minimum levels of selective collection. These indicators will increase: from 77 percent. in 2025 to 90 percent in 2029. If these limits are not met, a product fee will be imposed on companies.
