How much does wet corn cost in contracts?

Corn prices will continue to develop, although certain frameworks are already known. We can see this, for example, in the dry corn prices. Meanwhile, single offers for wet corn appear on the market. Only some companies reveal their first offers. What will wet corn prices be like this season?

We cannot predict how prices will develop, e.g. in October. Nevertheless, there are proposals for wet corn contracts on the market. Prices range from PLN 460-550/t. However, at the moment the most common price range is around PLN 470-480/t. The higher valuations, around PLN 500/t, concern the north of the country. Prices apply to grain with a moisture content of 30%. Deductions are applied for grain with higher moisture content (PLN 20-25/t), while lower moisture content is subject to an additional payment (PLN 5-15/t for each percentage).

Probably slightly lower corn harvests are expected in the United States (mainly due to the lower sown area). However, analysts predict higher yields in Brazil and the European Union. And what will it be like in Poland? The yield range will probably be high, because weaker plantations in some regions were severely damaged by drought. But many of them were "saved" at the end of last week and at the beginning of this week, when rainfall passed through the country. And there are also regions where corn is quite strong and promises good yields.

There are offers of standing corn

Last week we paid attention to the prices of standing corn. The market here is also still developing, although most often you have to pay PLN 6.5-8.5 thousand per hectare, with the higher prices being most common in the north-eastern regions. If a grower decides to sell standing corn, it is clear that he or she is trying to compensate not only for the outlay, but also to obtain – which is obvious – a comparable or slightly higher income than in the production of grain.

Let us add that currently dry corn in the north of the country is valued at PLN 800-820/t, while in the southern regions the rates are PLN 750-760/t.
