How much does standing corn cost in different regions of Poland?

The lowest price we managed to find is PLN 3.5 thousand/ha. There are rates around PLN 4,000/ha, but most often the lowest prices are due to the fact that we will not obtain much weight from such a plantation. Such prices usually apply to weaker sites, where the plants themselves are very low and the share of cobs will be marginal. Although there are also "gems", but rather at slightly higher prices. However, there are not many offers where sellers offer low prices, below PLN 5,000/ha. Such prices are rather related to the fact that the seller only wants to recover the outlay incurred.

In the vicinity of Szczecin, offers range from PLN 6.5 thousand to PLN 8 thousand/ha. There are offers from the Pomeranian Voivodeship in a similar range. In the Lubuskie Voivodeship, the price range is usually PLN 6,000 – 6,500/ha. Offers most often start with such prices also in Lower Silesia, although the highest valuations exceed PLN 8,000/ha. Similar valuations apply to offers in the Silesian Voivodeship.

A large price range applies to offers for the sale of standing corn in Podlasie. The cheapest proposals are PLN 4,000/ha, but there are also many estimates around PLN 9,000. However, the most common rates are PLN 7.5 – 8 thousand/ha. Let us add that the north-eastern regions also have the most offers. Similar prices appear in advertisements from Masovia and the center of the country.

In the south-eastern regions, including: in Małopolska or Podkarpacie, prices usually range from PLN 6,000 to PLN 7,000/ha.

What determines the price of standing corn?

Traditionally, most offers are in regions with the highest concentration of dairy farms. The price itself depends, of course, primarily on the condition of the plantation. The offered area and the size of the fields themselves are also important.

It is worth noting that the prices are slightly lower than last year. In 2023, the prices of standing corn even exceeded PLN 10,000/ha, and there were offers where sellers expected amounts of over PLN 11,000/ha.

The most common price range is PLN 6.5 – 8.5 thousand/ha, although these amounts also depend on the region. It is usually more expensive in the north-eastern regions.

And what will be the interest in standing corn? The fate is still in the balance here. Certainly, in regions where the drought was the strongest, the demand for such a source of feed will be greater, especially if there are many farms with cattle breeding. Some people are already reserving fields for harvesting corn for silage, but the standing corn market is still taking shape and offers may change.
