Harvest is a period of dynamic changes in the purchase prices of agricultural produce. Purchasing companies and processors react to the market situation from day to day, adjusting the daily price to the traffic in the purchasing centers or the quality of the arriving goods. Based on prices regularly published on the website, we check how they changed in July, or rather in its second half, when the harvest took place. All amounts given are net prices.

Purchase prices of cereals and rapeseed. Consumer cereals more expensive than at the end of July
Purchase prices of winter rapeseed
In July, we collected purchasing prices for winter rapeseed on seven dates – 05/07, 08/07, 12/07, 15/07, 18/07, 26/07 and 30/07. This year's harvest started exceptionally early, in some places even in the first decade of July, hence the dynamics of price changes looked slightly different than in "normal" years. Of course, local price disproportions were clearly visible in individual rankings, depending on the advancement of the rapeseed harvest in a given region. The highest average purchase price of rapeseed, amounting to PLN 2,070/t net, was recorded on July 5 and 8, and after a drop on July 15 to PLN 1,950/t, it is worth emphasizing the increase on July 18 to PLN 2,000/t.

Grain purchase prices
We checked grain purchase prices four times in July – on July 8, July 15, July 26 and July 30, and once at the beginning of August. Although the winter barley harvest took place long ago, in June, the main harvest took place mainly in the second half of July, which is why we started collecting grain prices a little later than in the case of rapeseed. The dynamics of changes in average purchase prices depends on the species and quality, and the basic trend that is easy to notice is that consumer cereals gained value or maintained their price for the longest time.

Consumer wheat reached the highest average purchase price on August 2, when on average a farmer could receive PLN 870/t net for it. It should be emphasized that in the case of this species, some companies distinguish several quality groups, most often below 12.5%. proteins, 12.5-14 percent and above 14 percent proteins. Consumer wheat of these two higher quality groups has increased significantly in value at the beginning of August, which may mean that there is a shortage of it on the market and purchasing companies want to encourage farmers to sell it at a good price.

Wheat prices up, corn prices down last week
In the case of consumer rye, average purchase prices in July were more or less constant, oscillating in the range of PLN 540-550/t net. However, we recorded a clear increase at the beginning of June, when the average was PLN 570/t. Here, as with wheat, a good price at the end of the harvest may mean there is little stock on the market and farmers need to be persuaded to sell.
