Hertz Polska has enabled PepsiCo employees to test electric cars in their own company environment. The test took place at the PepsiCo factory in Święte near Środa Śląska – the most environmentally sustainable PepsiCo plant in the EU. It operates on the principle of a closed-loop economy not only in the production process, but also in the operation of the entire facility, which is why green energy generated on-site at PepsiCo, including thanks to installed photovoltaic panels, was used to charge the vehicles.
PepsiCo with Hertz
In connection with PepsiCo's plans to develop electromobility in the company, the cooperation with Hertz involved familiarizing employees with all the practical aspects of owning and using an electric car, as well as familiarizing them with issues related to traveling by electric vehicles.
Testing therefore included a practical aspect, in which participants switched to electric cars during standard work duties, and were also trained by Hertz experts in activities such as connecting a charger or opening a car. The theoretical aspect was also taken care of, during which listeners learned about the development of EV infrastructure in Poland and around the world, the development of electric cars and their market, the latest solutions in the field of electromobility and those that may appear in the near future, as well as city benefits for owners of electric cars.
"Ready for Electrician" Program
The test drives were attended by 25 employees, including senior managers, who had three electric cars at their disposal, including a car with the option of using the Hertz Corporate Car Sharing (CCS) application for sharing company cars. The electric cars tested by Pepsico covered a total of 16,000 kilometers over 6 weeks with an average power consumption of 16 kWh.
"The Ready for Electrician with Hertz program was a great opportunity for our employees to get used to electromobility. The electrification of our fleet is the next stage in implementing pro-environmental solutions in PepsiCo Polska," said Agata Ordon, Indirects Assoc Supervisor Energy. "They are part of the PepsiCo Positive strategy, which indicates the path to becoming a global leader in our industry through further development of the company, based on activities built on respect for the planet and local communities," explained Agata Ordon.
"Hertz helps companies meet the requirements of electrification, which assumes that an increasing part of company fleets will be electric cars," commented Jacek Sosnowski, Retail & New Business Manager at Hertz Polska. "By enabling testing of electric vehicles, we familiarize entrepreneurs and managers with this technology in such a way that they can get to know it in practice, as well as determine the technical and organizational needs of the company related to fleet electrification, which is necessary for the smooth implementation of the entire process. We are glad that we could accompany PepsiCo in entering the world of electromobility," convinced Jacek Sosnowski.
