The incident occurred on a plantation in Arbing, in the commune of Osterhofen, in the district of Deggendorf in Lower Bavaria. The grower caught a senior citizen in his field who had already packed several dozen watermelons into the trunk of his car. Moreover, he did not intend to stop stealing and insulted the farmer. The farmer stopped the elderly robber and called the police.
The police arrested the perpetrator. It turned out that the thief was 86 years old and stole 30 fresh watermelons, worth about 70 euros. Now the senior will be brought to court for theft and insulting the farmer.
