Police officers from the Węgorzewo police station received a report of the theft of 84 bales of hay from a field in the Pozezdrze commune. The owner estimated the value of the stolen bales at over PLN 10,000. zloty. Investigators identified the perpetrator of the theft. It turned out that this man had also committed fraud.
The theft was committed by a 30-year-old resident of Węgorzewo. He took bales from the meadow without the owner's knowledge or consent, because last year he committed to deliver 200 bales of hay to a certain cross-breed from Gołdap. The perpetrator had previously taken payment for hay which he was unable to deliver. It was on a farm near Gołdap that the police found stolen hay.
The perpetrator was charged with theft and fraud, to which he pleaded guilty. He now faces up to 8 years in prison.
