Police officers from the Department of Search and Identification of Persons of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Białystok have determined the whereabouts of a 58-year-old convicted of fraud. To avoid punishment, the man hid for 10 years outside the country, mainly in Belgium. He was wanted on two European Arrest Warrants and six arrest warrants for numerous frauds and attempted frauds amounting to almost PLN 900 thousand.
Leased machines
"In order to obtain false certification for the purpose of documenting the allegedly good financial condition of the farm he runs, the 58-year-old deceitfully misled a tax office employee as to the authenticity of the documents. He provided false data in applications for leasing agreements, including for agricultural machinery. The resident of the Knyszyn commune did not repay the loans and did not return the machinery," we learn from a police statement.
Piglet scams
An agricultural entrepreneur from Knyszyn also failed to fulfill his obligation, which was a purchase agreement for 701 piglets with a 14-day payment term. The 58-year-old did not pay and resold the piglets. He tried to cheat another piglet supplier in the same way, but he withdrew from the transaction in time.
"The man was detained in the Podlaskie Voivodeship and sent to a penitentiary, where he will spend 8 years," the Police report.
