According to a fresh report from German hop producer BartHaas, global beer production increased by 17 million hectoliters last year to reach 1.88 billion hectoliters (a hectoliter is equal to one hundred liters).

Beer production in Europe fell by nine million hectolitres, mainly due to declines in the UK (down 3.3 million hectolitres), Germany (down 2.9 million hectolitres) and Poland (down two million hectolitres).
